In 2008, I decided to switch from the Ordinal Numbering system and identify TBOX by year, thus this was known as TBOX2008 and not TBOX13. I
am not superstitious but I thought this would be a better way to prepare for
the future (ie, TBOX2024 would be TBOX29, could be confusing -- always thinking ahead here!)
Thanks to ever-increasing word of mouth and publicity through Metromix, CLTV, Chicago Magazine, and other outlets, attendance leapfrogged from 4,200 to a whopping 6,700 for the 13th edition of TBOX, and it started to truly, really feel, well...
epic. Once again, we had Cubby Bear as our home base for the start and finish, and long-time TBOXer Sarah K was our awesomely gracious and elegant Number One. Onstage, she wore a lovely red gown and purple sash, and we placed a fur-lined funnel around her neck like you put on your dog or cat so they can't scratch
themsleves!!! -- and filled it with cereal, then ripped it off in a blaze of glory. Simply amazing! The Royal Court, decorated with the
"Royal or Not Royal" themed license plates, consisted of the Top 40 VIP's, and we finished the evening with Rock Band Karaoke at Cubby Bear.
