Ah, this is the #1 most frequently asked question at TBOX... At TBOX, you will see Cereal everywhere -- we encourage everyone to bring at least one box of cereal with them to use for snacking throughout the day AND for Cereal Shots.  There is NOTHING like a mouthful of colorful, sugary goodness to go with your long, long day of liquid refreshment. So how in the WORLD did this all start?

Mr. Festa Rates His Favorite Cereals for TBOX!

(In Chris's own words...) It all started back when I was in high school in Vero Beach, Florida -- at my High School in Vero Beach which will remain unnamed (the High School in Vero Beach that is Not Vero Beach High School) -- I had started to become aware of "beer" sometime around the middle of 10th grade.  Believe it or not - and please do not be shocked - I was not one of the "Cool Kids" -- but at one of the first parties ("keggers") I went to around St Patrick's Day, in order to initiate me, the "cool kids" (can you believe i was not one of them) made me and my other newbie-partier friends drink an entire bucket filled with green beer, topped off with an entire box of Lucky Charms they poured into it.  We had to eat/drink it as fast as possible, and you can imagine the results later ("technicolor yawn")

2007 Opening Ceremonies

The cereal thing remained dormant, actually, for the next few years, throughout college, until one night 7 years later or so, also on St Patrick's Day when I was briefly living in Miami.  Some of my old friends came down for the weekend, and just on a lark, we took a box of Lucky Charms with us that I happened to have in the house. Literally, like EVERY GIRL in the place came up asking us for cereal, we were the center of attention, the cereal was a hit!  The next year, I moved to Chicago, and started taking a box of Capn Crunch or Trix with me to small bar crawls I went on, or as the food at parties I had -- and again, everybody loved it.  And when TBOX began in 1996, Cereal was a part of it the whole time from day one -- but just eating and sharing it, in a nice, calm manner...

Until, sometime around TBOX5 or 6, "THE CEREAL SHOT" was born. I honestly can't remember the exact origins.  It was like, why just a handful? Why not the whole box? I think I had just been somewhere that year where they had "Upside Down Margaritas" -- and I think that kind of gave me the idea.  I felt that with the LONG day of partying, doing CEREAL shots -- was a great "innocent" way to have fun without emphasizing excessive drinking -- and had the dual benefit of providing nutrition and a sugar rush, along with a very "cinematic" and dynamic way to put an exclamation point on things.

And alas, from about TBOX7 onward, the amount - and velocity - of cereal, have grown and grown, and I couldn't IMAGINE TBOX without it.  And I've even heard you can eat it for breakfast...
